NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD - Y Lle Celf AmGen 2021

Held during the first week of August every year, the National Eisteddfod is a celebration of the culture and language in Wales.
The festival travels from place to place, alternating between north and south Wales, attracting around 150,000 visitors and over 250 tradestands and stalls. Traditionally a competition-based festival, attracting over 6,000 competitors every year, the festival has developed and evolved over recent years, and whilst the competitions form the central focus for the week, the Maes (site) itself has grown and developed into a vibrant festival with hundreds of events and activities for the whole family.

The Eisteddfod is the natural showcase for music, dance, visual arts, literature, original perfomances and much more.  Encompassing all aspects of the arts and culture in Wales. Described as Wales’ leading mobile regeneration project, Eisteddfod week is the highlight of a two year community project, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds from a different part of Wales every year.

This year, like so many other events, it’s gone digital. By click of a button you can be transported to the art pavilion, aka, ‘Y Lle Celf’.
I’m thrilled to have had my work selected to be part of the virtual reality exhibition, but more than that, it's a strong reminder that what we have to offer in Wales is up there with the best. Thank you to 4pi Productions for taking my woven goods and making them look as real as they can through your screen. Link to the digital exhibition here https://eisteddfod.cymru/amgen-2021-lle-celf-arddangosfa or take a look at a quick recording I did below.

“This year saw organisers invite artists to submit their work for the exhibition, with three renowned Welsh experts sifting through the entries and choosing their favourites to be awarded a coveted place within the gallery.

Gwenno Angharad, Aled Wyn Davies and Carwyn Evans, who between them represent a wide range of disciplines, selected the artworks before the team at 4Pi undertook the curation and interactive design of this ambitious and attractive exhibition, with an exciting fusion of emerging and established artists.

This year's artists are Manon Awst, Siân Barlow, Ann Catrin Evans, Gwen Evans, Kate Fiszman, Rhiannon Gwyn, Kate Haywood, Llio James, Karolina Jones, Rhys Bevan Jones, Roger Lougher, Karen McRobbie, John Gareth Miles and André Stitt.”
